MORE BRAVADA PROBLEMS

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but hadn't. My 1997 Bravada had to get towed a week and a half ago for the second time in two weeks. My wife was traveling on the expressway and all of a sudden the thing just died on her. She called a tow truck and I went to check it out and wait for the tow truck with her. I checked it for spark and sure enough it was getting spark, so I figured it was a fuel problem. When we got the truck home, I checked it again for spark. When I popped the hood, I could smell gas, so figured it wasn't a fuel problem. I checked for spark again and noticed that it was getting spark, but it was a very weak spark. Normally, the spark will arc if you hold it say, 1/2" for metal. In order to get spark this time, I actually had to touch it to metal. I figured that this wasn't enough spark to fire it up. A week earlier, I had changed the coil and ignition module. I figured one of these must have gone bad. Sure enough, it turned out to be the coil. I put the old coil back on (good thing I saved it) and it fired right up. Go figure. The coil did have a lifetime warranty, so I got another brand new one for it.

I thought I was done, but more problems came about. I used my remote starter to start the vehicle later on and the SES light came on. This caused the vehicle to start in 2nd gear and not shift into overdrive. I reset the code and every time I used the remote starter the SES light would come on. Turned out a wire pulled off of a relay for the remote starter. Unbelievable. I just can't believe how many problems this darn remote starter has caused me. I'm never buying another one, unless I install it myself.

I think it was around $230 or so.

So far, so good. I think I have all of the problems worked out on the vehicle. It hasn't been towed in nearly 2 weeks.
