Muffler and tailpipe size

Does anyone know of any negative side effects from reducing the muffler and tailpipe size from 3.5 in down to 3 in. On a 6.0 gm. I'm considering a different Muffler and tailpipe. From the muffler Inlet back to the bumper it would be 3in rather than 3.5. I have started communication with another member who has done this, just wondering if anyone else has experience with this. I have heard mixed reviews that this could reduce low end torque or create flat spots in the powerband under acceleration

I'm no expert, but GM choked the 3.5 down to 3.0 already with the factory muffler on the L96. It opens back up to 3.5 after the muffler, but since it already restricted it down I think that's that. I could 1000% be wrong on the physics/thermodynamics there, but that's how I see it.

When I got a new muffler I didn't know they were going to put a 3 inch on. When I got home I looked and discovered it wasn't 3.5 inch. I called and asked why and they said they didn't have the equipment to bend 3.5 inch pipe. They said they do it all the time. That was 3 years and 120,000km ago and I have never noticed anything bad. Not sure if I will just  get the same muffler again when this one burns out or go to a different shop and pay more to get a 3.5 inch with 3.5 inch pipe bent.

Interesting, I was not aware that the factory Muffler was only a 3 in
Yep. The pipe tapers down on both ends before entering the can.

What type of Muffler setup are you running?also Is it a single in and out or a single in and dual out?
