Barcode scanner...

My boss has tasked me with finding a bardcode scanner system that will work with a windows based PC. Doesn't have to be too fancy, just something that we can use to manage our shipping/receiving inventory.

If any of you guys could give me a push in the right direction that would be great! I really don't have a clue where to start.

Thanks :(

might want to look in one of those computer magazines that are all advertising and catalogs...I have seen people in there sell them...I can't think of a specific name, but you might have one laying around the office.

It's basic function would be to log shipping and receiving inventory. Currently we fill out an entry in an Excel spreadsheet to track stuff coming in/out of the warehouse.

you might also want to see what kind of software the database you keep your inventory uses. You might be able to find something that communitcate directly to your DB. I dunno....just an idea :(

You may want to look at the ones they make for the PALM pilot PDAs. The scanner and the PALM can fit right in your pocket.

The barcode reader used to come with a simple inventory software system that ran on the palm (I'm not sure ifit still does, but I do know it can be made to sync up to your existing systems (i.e., your Excel spreadsheet) with the included SDK.
