service engine light

Not my truck but a 99 chevy with v6

Anyone know why the service engine light comes and stays on sometimes, manual says something to do with emissions, one thing noticed is the gas cap. The pressure when the gas cap seems really high when taken off. Fuel filter was changed but no better. I know this may be a little vague but just thought someone might have an idea.

A simple fix that might work would be to try a new gas cap. The seal on yours might be bad.

I've heard of this working on a friend's truck.
