Wheel/backspacing question

I have 285's on stock wheels on my 02 chevy. Im looking to get new wheels that will push them out a bit to be somewhat flush with the fender flares. That space just doesnt look right to me. I have no clue what kind of wheels I want but they wont be on the expensive side. My question, what backspacing do I need on a new wheel to push them out about an inch or so. Thanks.

When I put a lift on my wife 1500 the stock wheels had 5 inches of backspace. With the Rancho lift you have to use a wheel with 45/8" of backspace or less. We opt for some eagle polished rims with 4" of backspace. They look great and they are flush with the warn 4x flares that we put on the truck. The only thing that you need to be careful with backspace on a non lifted truck with larger that stock tires is that the tire might rub the inner fender well if you have to little backspace.

I put American Racing Burst wheels on my truck and I think they have either 4.5 or 5 inches of backspacing. Look on the American Racing website. With those tires, there is no rubbing on my stock '00 Silverado and they are flush at the front and tuck in only a hair in the rear.
