Rip music from streaming radio stations via WinAMP

Here is a program that will allow you to use WinAMP and any internet radio station that uses WinAMP to rip the music and save it as a .MP3. One of the nicest features is that you can pick a station and let it record ALL day. It will save each song as a separate file with the correct name of the band and title.

This program is a add-on for WinAMP...look for it in the "Thinger" program bar.

make sure your winamp is installed in the "program files\winamp" directory...this program needs for it to be in there

I've been using it for 1.5 days and already have 300+ songs.

The quality of the song depends on the station...I've been using 128kbs stations and the quality is very good. I use shoutcast.com.

Gonna give it a try...

Any links to good internet rock radio stations? I can't seem to find any stations that I really like. I wish I could find one comparable to the local radio station Lazer103 (www.lazer103.com) but no such luck.

shoutcast.com has some good stations... good rock and 80's station. Every once and awhile you can find a good "newer" alternative station, but they usually mix in some crap.

Anyone else know of good stations?

BTW, my song list is now a growing 550+ songs... no user input either.

I found a pretty decent station on radiostorm.com the alternative rock station, but like you said, some krap tossed in, but all in all it's 95% good.

I've added 70 new songs just this afternoon at work, but I'll let it run overnight on this station and add to the collection.

Another good stream is Classic Rock

Very good rock station...

I currently have 163 songs from this station.... all pretty d**n good!

Some stations have a small playlist... some are around 100 songs.. so far this classic rock is huge.... and the one 80's station is quite big... still no repeats after 300 songs.

Anybody know if you can make this work with Macs?? I can't believe it, I am over here at college with a super speedy internet connection, and they have all the music download methods blocked. I can't figure out anyway to get music.

If you look at the main site, they have a link on the left for OSX for the Mac... no idea how well it works.

Close but no cigar

For me, 128 isnt of good enough quality AND not knowing ( i can find out ) what codec was used doesnt help either.

I guess if i just wanted a bunch of songs on my pc that id never play on my home system or car id be ok with it.

I guess ill keep using Kazaa and ripping my own cd's instead.

Z71, thanks for the tip. I guess I hadn't looked in the right area. Its working now, and man this is cool. I love being able to get endless mp3's of good songs, as I have a iPod. Between the iPod/cassette adapter, the XM, and my CD's, I will have no shortage of tunes.
