2001 Suburban Window roll up module problems

Recommended Posts

OK, I installed a window roll up module on my 2001 Suburban and have two problems. The first problem is that sometimes when I arm the system the window won't roll up all the way. I turned up the sensativity on the module and still, sometimes it stops and sometimes it doesn't. The second problem is the wiring. I installed the module inside the door and wanted to run all the wires to the driver side switch. Is this possible, I posted before if this was ok and some people said Yes. For the drivers side window, the wire to roll up the window has no voltage when is switch is not pressed, when the switch is pressed to close the window it gets 12 volts. For the other three windows, the wire get 12 volts all the time and when you press the switch to close any one of them the voltage goes away. ????????????? I dont get it.

What window module should I get? Which brand? Obviously the one I have isn't up to rolling up my windows.

What model window module do you have? Where did you catch the power wires from the window modules?

As far as the window not going up all the way, be sure to check that you're using a heavy enough gauge wire. I'd recommend at least 12 gauge for the actual motor wires, and 10 gauge for the power and ground.

I ended up using 2 DEI 530T's to control all 4 windows of my truck, and I mounted the units under the dash and ran wires to each door. I know it sounds like a PITA, but I've found running to each door switch the best way to go.

When installing window modules, you have to catch the wires going directly from the switch to the motor. By catching the wires at only the driver's switch, the wires could possibly be going through a relay. That's why you see the window switch as hot all the time, until the button is pressed. Most GM window systems are a positive trigger, meaning that the motors rest at ground, and are supplied w/ 12 volts when the switch is pressed.
