jryerson Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I have a 1996 silverado with the 5.7 engine. recently i have been getting "service engine soon" lights. The codes indicate that I'm running rich. I took the truck to a mechanic who did the diagnosis. Sure enough he said it was running rich. He said to start with a tune-up. I wasn't really happy with his response but I did the tune-up anyway. After the tune-up the light came back on. I took it back to the mechanic and he hooked it up to his computer and took o2 sensor readings. He showed me that they were slowly coming back to life and he recommended that I do a fuel system flush/clean for $178.00. Not sure that I like that idea either. Do you think I would benefit from this or should I just go ahead and replace the o2 sensors?
stebob Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I did the same thing. ;) Check it out here: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...topic=16863&hl=
