Re-centering SIR or clockspring...

Have my steering shaft unhooked from box and steering wheel rotated exactly 180 degrees because of bottom heavy steering wheel unhooked and it rotated on its own.. problem is I just dont know which way it rotated and I have a 50/50 shot at breaking the clockspring or SIR.. is there any way to re-center it so I know it wont break.. thanks for any help
