2019 Silverado 2500HD Cabin Smoke/Smell

Recommended Posts

I am new to the group. I bought the truck(2019 Silverado K2500HD, Duramax) a week ago and drove it to work today(80 miles). I pull into the parking lot and something smells like its burning? I put it park and the lights came on, there was visible smoke coming from somewhere. The gauges where fine and there was no check engine light on. I shut it off, but am very concerned about my ride home. The truck has less than 500 miles on it. Has anyone had this happen? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

was it brand new? if so it should not be a regen in 80 miles of regular driving, if new its typical, theres a lot of piping under the hood of these with all the new protectant to burn off, its normal for them to get that way.

Yeah, The truck was new with 18 miles on it. It’s since stopped smoking under the hood. I was just freaking out, thought something was going to catch fire ?.

This is the first diesel truck for me. It’s one Nice Truck, very happy with it ?

Exact same thing happened to me.  Only happened that one time though and that was 2,000 miles ago.  Like you, I was very concerned - smelled like paper burning to me.  I was cautious the next couple of times I drove it has never resurfaced, so I attributed it to a label on the exhaust or something burning off.
