This is getting frustrating

I'm really having a hard time finding a good used truck to buy in this area. I am finding tons of half tons, but very few good three quarter or one ton pickups like I want. Is this the case everywhere or just here? A buddy of mine and I went out and looked on every lot in the Quad Cities tonight and found about 8 used HD trucks total, none of them that will work for me.

I know there has to be used trucks since I am seeing a ton of new ones on the road, but where are all of them? Is everyone trading in their old K1500s on new HDs or what?

thats the same thing i ran into, but i wasnt looking at really new trucks. anywhere from 90 to however new i wanted to try for. basicly all the ones in the price range or had the things i wanted were the 6 lug 2500s or had too many miles.. etc etc etc.. but in the end after a long search i got the truck i wanted and my dad got something he wanted.

I traded my 1/2 ton on an HD...

The other problem is that most 3/4 ton trucks are "worked" and it is hard to find one that isn't run hard... most people write them off for businesses etc.

If I had to guess you'd probably be able to find a '01 HD in a year or 2 based on the number of '99 - up Silverados I see on the lots right now...

That would work great except for one thing, I have to have a new vehicle within a month from yesterday since my current daily driver (S10 Blazer) is being passed on to my sister.

They are extremely hard to find here. If you do find one, it is: High mileage, beat-up, and wrong equipment.

I looked for a 3/4ton 4x4 truck as a second truck/farm truck for almost a year, couldn't find a decent one so I settled with a 1/2ton--mistake!

People have told me that the reason there arn't as many HD trucks is because #1 more 1/2ton's are wanted and sold, and #2 people that have them hold on to them.

I think that might be why resale value on any type of HD truck is so much better.

The Silverado HD has an incredible resale value, dealers are selling them at higher then new ones--or so they try.

I just sold my 89 2500 but it was pretty wel beat... 12 years of plowing snow really take it's toll on a truck. The transmission was still original though... that was the last year you could get the turbo 400 in the 8600# GVW trucks. I see a lot of trucks for sale in the truck trader magazines but they are usually expensive... check out the webpage http://www.traderonline.com/
