2003 Chevy Avalanche steering wheel controls wont work

I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche since new. My problem is that everything on the radio works but no sound comes out of it. It may take hours and unselectively the sound comes on. Also, most of my steering wheel controls don't work. Tried to reset the oil life after an oil change, but wont work. Any one has an idea of what is causing this problem? Thanks Jose
