Opinions needed on Tonneau cover

I'm looking for a tonneau cover that can be used with an over the rail toolbox.

I've found two, the Extang for $219 or the Access Cover for $401.

I've heard great things about Access, but when I mentione Extang, I got a dirty look. Now is this because the Access costs more, so they would make more or is there a quality issue?

Don't be misled..Extang makes the best soft tonneau for the $ period. If that's retail, you should pay about $185. I've bought 3 Extangs. The "Black Max" model is the way to go. The new ones (I have one) are I believe, 10 tear warranty on cover fabric itself...lifetime on frame, paperwork's out in the garage. Get the Extang...

For twice the money....The Access is a hard cover correct? If it is, this is not an apples to apples comparison, in style, flexability, or price.

I have an Access and love it. My brother-in-law owns a truck accessory store and he says the Access is the best quality soft tonneau cover he has seen. I don't have any experience with any of the other covers, but I can tell you the Access cover is very high in quality. I've owned mine since 2001 and would not hesitate to buy another one.

The Extang is cheaper because it's, well..... cheaper!

They're not even in the same class with Access, and their design is inferior.

I've had Access covers on all my trucks since my 1993, and they're all still in good shape. Best design, hands down.

Thanks for the replies. SO far those are the only two I've found that will work with a crossover toolbox, if anyone knows any others, please let me know, I'm not in a hurry.

While it seems some may disagree, I LOVE the Extange cover. I have had three of them on my last three trucks. They hold up GREAT. The frames are VERY well built. I have had the lift cover on my last two trucks and I would not be caught without one.

It all boils down to your decision and wallet. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. :jester:
