Onstar question

I have a 2013 GMC Sierra. Just installed a used onstar module from another truck (2013 Chevy Silverado). Can the dealer reprogram it with my 2013 GMC Sierra vin number? I’ve heard they can and some say no. Thanks

I think it's easier to just let Onstar think you are driving the Chevy.  We hear about fellas getting shut down by Onstar if they tell them they put a newer module in their older vehicle.  Not sure how they'd respond to same year swap.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what im doing at the moment. I thought maybe onstar could reprogram it. I talked to one of their techs and he said i need to take it to the dealership. He talked like he was really concerned. Im supposed to go monday and a dealership is gonna see if they can. He said if they cant there would be no charge.

The tech guy was out with the flu, so i decided to let it be. It works good anyway!
