Upgrading Shocks

I am think about upgrading my shocks...all I have done so far was add BFgoodrich 265s and leveled out the front end to our 04. I am thinking about adding some Edelbrocks or Ranchos. What does everyone think about this, any other suggestions?

Thanks

recently upgraded mine to Bilstein's, my truck had started to wander the new shocks made it much more stable, ride is stiffer but more pleasant, instead of the bump and then all the after waves it is now just the bump

the factory shocks were bad they had lost a lot of fluid already, they had no resistance in one direction

reventai,

How old were your factory shocks? And do the Bilsteins claim to have the auto ride adjust adjusters like the I think the Rancho 9000s have?

I am looking to soften out the ride and if I cann't not make the ride any stiffer.

Thanks for your info..

You could go with the Rancho RSX self adjusting shocks. They are a smooth ride while going down the highway and when going offroad they stiffen up to help offroad performance. I have had a set on my truck since putting the lift on and cannot say enough good things about them.

If you want a set shoot me a PM.

I switched out around 40k they were shot well before then, I think they were designed to make it through the factory 36k warranty only, the Bilsteins have just one setting, stiff witch makes for good control of this stout suspension, my truck handles a lot better now. if you are looking for a soft ride the adjustable may get closer but with these stiff springs a Cadillac ride is not really possible

I don't have an HD, but I have a set of Rancho RSX's on my 2000 1500 Silverado, and I have had nothing but good things to say about them ....

They did firm up the ride very slightly when on pavement, but it actually made the truck handle and take corners better that way, and they are infinatley better off road than the stock shocks were. They soak up bumps sooooooooooooooooo much better it's not even funny.

The green keys were, for me, a great addition. I have the height I wanted and a good ride quality. Now, my truck actually LOOKS like a truck. :D

Those 50 watts lights are only quartz halogen bulbs that I used as replacement for the incandescent bulbs that GM put in for backup lights. They should be available in just about any auto parts store (maybe even WallyWorld). I forget the name of who made them, but they come in a blueish box with a picture of a kid on a bicycle about to get run over by someone who can't see them in the dark. Kinda like something from the old Mad Magazine. They make a difference, but it's not huge. For me, they were worth the money though. I think they cost about $12 for the pair.

Jim, thanks for the info a buddy of mine owns a NAPA I am sure he has some or knows were to get them. We need all the light we can get out here in the sticks

We did not go with the new keys they said we had plenty of bolt thread left, the ride is good with two inches added.....but how true is that...now it looks like a truck, why could they not just come from the factory this way :D:lol::lol::wtf:

I just ordered the Bilsteins over the weekend...they were on sale for $46. At first I wanted to get the Edlebrock but everyone was telling me to go with the Bilsteins. What do you like about the Edlebrocks, it is too late but maybe next time I give them a try. :sigh:
