What Are You Getting?

I use my truck to commute between Tucson and Phoenix several times a month. Mileage has averaged around 20.3 to 21 at 75mph. Not bad I guess for a 4100# vehicle. What are you guys getting?

I have a 2003 chevrolet silverado, regular cab, short bed with a stock 5.3L engine and a 3.42 open rear end (it doesn't get to 2000 rpm until I reach 75 mph) and I average a little over 17 mpg (mixed city and highway). My wife has a 2003 chevrolet suburban with the 5.3L engine and 3.73 rear differential and she also averages a little over 17 mpg.

2002 Silverado, Reg Cab, Short Bed, 4x4, 265/75/16s, 4.8L, 3.73s. I do a mix of city and highway(which has alot of hills) every week to school and back, and I usually get 18-19 mpg consitantly every week.

02 ECSB with the 5.3L and 3.42 gears. Seems like no matter what I am stuck at 15, maybe 16 if I'm real easy on it. Most my driving is highway (20 miles each way to work), but normally traffic is bad so speeds range from 5mph to 80mph. If I'm lucky I'll hit 65-80 all the way to work.

When I went to San Antonio back in Sept. I might have gotten 16.5 on the highway and that was all 70+ driving, except a few construction zones. Still, I wish the truck got a little better...but I love the power and feel of the truck so I can live with the sacrifice. Hoping my new exhaust (once I decide on which one) will help gain a little better MPG.

I wish I could be the milage you folks do. My 1500 4x4 has the 5.3 with 3:73's and I get 14 around here and 16.5 on the interstate. Of course, I drive 70-75, but I should still get better than that!

Of course, my old '79 gets about 7 so I guess my Silverado is not too bad!! :D
