adding basslink sub...maybe

Hi, I bought a 2001 S-10 extended cab a couple of months ago, and am thinking about adding an aftermarket sub/amp or a comb of the two and keep my stock (delco) CD player and speakers. I don't have a lot of money, so I was thinking about going with an infinity basslink combo thats about 200 dollars on the net.

is this a good idea?....

and if so how will this work with my stock speakers and cd player?

any advice would be great.

I have the Basslink in my Silverado and really enjoy it. Basically, I was just wanting to supplement the existing sound system's lack of bass. That's all. And I wanted the convenience of quick installation and removal.

If you want a loud thumper, the Basslink isn't for you. What it gives you is ease of installation and a very nice low-frequency supplement that doesn't exist with your stock speakers.

In my case, I used the existing speaker wires that were running to my back speakers to feed the Basslink. Worked great. Later, I replaced my OEM unit with a Pioneer and used the Pioneer's woofer feed to fire up the Basslink. The EQ setting for the Pioneer was set for low bass and I used the Basslink to provide bass, thus sparing the anemic OEM speakers bass output. The sound is simply incredible. Admittedly, due to my inexperience, it took me a very long time to get the settings right.

So, for me, this was definitely a very easy way to go to get the bass that I want without messing around with my speakers and being really invasive with the installation. When/if I trade my truck in, I can easily remove my modifications in probably less than five minutes.

But, again, if you are wanting a thumper to annoy steet traffic, this is not the unit for you.
