Infotainment system

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra SLE with the large 9” touch screen infotainment. When I bought the truck it said it had navigation and it does have the app for it on the home screen of the GMC intellilink. However, when I open the navigation app it goes straight to a compass and does not let me input and address. Is there a reason behind this and how can I update the software or whatever the issue may be?

you have onstar navigation, which only works if you subscribe to onstar. you can buy an upgraded hmi with navigation from wams or coastalflash
