System Update

Today, I received a message saying that I had an update from GM that needed to be downloaded. The message came up on my infotainment screen. It said that it would take 7 minutes to update and that the vehicle would be inoperable during that time. I guess all of my vehicles have always been too old for something like this because I’ve never experienced this before. Any idea what was fixed/updated?

I believe I saw a section somewhere in the systems menu where it logs the updates and gives you a brief description on what it is for.
