On my 92, it was going a little goofy from time to time.....Buttons not working at all....Some buttons working some of the time.....Other times, everything was peachy.

No amount of "percussive maintenance" would get the a/c on to cool my temper when it acted up either.

I removed the panel (and the whole control box that is attached to it), and took it apart. There was a layer of translucent rubbery stuff covering the circuit board that I had to peel off to get at it. Once I did, it was an easy fix....Kinda like doing the wiper motor. Just a couple points of contact on the board that the solder spots had popped off of, and were only intermittantly making contact.

I just cleaned them up, and dropped a new drop of solder on them, put it back together, and popped it back in.

That was around 5 years ago, and it still works perfectly.

I'm no electrician, so you know it isn't a hard job.

Even if you don't have a soldering iron, it would be cheaper to do it yourself.

Soldering iron - $12.50

Solder - $3.50

Band-Aid for cuts on hand -$2.49

Not paying $120 + 2 hours labor at the stealership for 3 cents worth of solder, and 15 minutes worth of work..........Priceless.

Hope that helped a little.

I have even seen kits (-bandaids) for like 7$ with everything included at RadioShack.

At least when mine goes crazy I think I can figure it out.

Just be careful, and mind your temper, and there wont be a need for the band-aids.

It was the not careful part that did me in :D
