Added GM full metal skid plates to Denali

Recommended Posts

I could not find a whole lot of information on this so I just went through the GM app and purchased via my VIN to verify it would fit. These supposedly do not work with the Z71 package but I don’t see why not.  The 1500 (2015 and 2016) and 2500 (2018) K2 Z71 Denali trucks I had were plastic front piece and so is my new 1500 AT4 so this is cool to me. The picture on the GMC accessory website looks to be plastic but obviously they’re not (the plastic one is a one piece front and middle that I have pictured below). I added the plates to a 4x4 Yukon Denali (We don’t take it off road or in ice/snow much but when you need it it’s good to have).

Now that I verified the Individual part numbers you can buy them individually... but it will be more expensive (unless you can find them used on eBay for a good price).  Wait for GM to have a discount on accessories (they do almost every month) and free shipping to dealership anyway.

I’ll post a picture installed when it’s not dark.

Like others have said, one bolt hole on each metal plate had to be widened a little. The bolt holes are smooth and not threaded on some locations YET as the bolts are semi-self tapping. Just apply flush pressure To the bolt and it will thread itself. Make snug but not over tight. Have to remove the plastic splash guard AND its metal supports before mounting metal skid plates (this is why you can’t just replace the rear/bottom plate under the engine because you have to remove a mounting location that the factory plastic one uses).
