'03 Envoy rattle

'03 Envoy with 5000 miles has a rattle somewhere under dash area at low speeds when either front wheel hits a bump but the right front wheel is the worst. The noise sounds more like a thick plastic bumping against something.

I have noticed that since the weather has gotten cooler and the heater is on the rattle has lessened. I wonder if it could be duct work or is it something in the engine compartment. I've tried to bump everything with my fist to reproduce the sound but have not found anything.

I have a 2004 Envoy and I have the same rattle. Souinds like a loose screw in the front defroster vent at times. At other times it sounds like a fan motor. I get the noise while idling and between 1000-15000 RPM's.

It's going to the dealer soon.

Let me know if you discover what is making the noise.

Well, the cause of the rattle was found to be a wiring harness that was loose. roblem solved. I no longer have the rattle.

What had been a constant noise has dissappeared and it happened about the time I started using the heater instead of AC. I suspect some thermal expansion tightened the joints.

It may return next spring when I turn cold air back through the duct but for now it is quiet.
