Finally got my molding painted.  So was waiting to install rear fender liners.  Went to go install today and something does not seem right.  They don’t seem to line up at all.  Can anyone with liners see if they look like the photo, especially those two pieces coming out at the bottom?  Thanks in advance.  Unfortunately the dealer just packed them in a random box so no part number.

The p/n for the liners for the sierra 2500 is 84496084.

Those do look correct for 2500 liners.

Procedure

Caution: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners, or fastener joint surfaces, unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. When using fasteners that are threaded directly into plastic, use extreme care not to strip the mating plastic part(s). Use hand tools only, and do not use any kind of impact or power tools. Fastener should be hand tightened, fully seated, and not stripped.

Note: U Clips come pre installed on wheel house liner assembly.

  1. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Vehicle Service Manual.
  2. Remove the rear tire front air deflector, retain the fasteners. Refer to Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Replacement in Vehicle Service Manual.
  3. Remove the rear pickup box paint protector, retain the fasteners. Refer to Rear Pickup Box Paint Protector Replacement
  4. Remove the rear wheel opening molding, if equipped. Refer to Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Vehicle Service Manual.
  5. Remove and discard the U Clips (1) at the front and rear of lower wheelhouse.
  6. Insert the supplied push nuts (1) into the wheel house areas as shown.
  7. Fit the wheel house liner (1) to the vehicle and install the supplied retainer (4).
  8. Install the supplied plastic threaded nuts (3). Tighten to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
  9. Install the supplied bolts (2). Tighten to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
  10. Re-install the rear wheel opening molding, if equipped. Refer to Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Vehicle Service Manual.
  11. Re-install the rear pickup box paint protector. Refer to Rear Pickup Box Paint Protector Replacement
  12. Re-install the rear tire front air deflector. Refer to Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Replacement in Vehicle Service Manual.
  13. Re-install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Vehicle Service Manual.
  14. Repeat procedure for other side.

Thanks.  I looked at the photos of that part number and they do look like the correct ones.  Not sure what I’m missing.  Luckily, the molding install went smooth.

I ran into the same problem. I believe I ordered the GMC liner instead of the Chevy one. I noticed it was kinda stamped on top with GMC. It's kinda hard to see. Now the Chevy liners are on back order for who knows how long.

Thanks for the instructions.. I'm a little confused on what bolts to use where though.. Any chance there is a diagram?

I watched a video of installing on a 1500.  Similar concept.  Those 7 torx inserts go in the square holes, 3 in the straight portion of the well, 2 on front, 2 on rear square holes.  The black plastic push style nut goes on the top middle, the other two go on front and rear, kind of a pain so I used a socket.

thanks but still at a loss.. it seems the front and rear plastic rock protectors thing have bolts and stuff themselves.   They actually dont even line up.. Called Chevy and may have the wrong part number.  What I received is 84496084, can you share your part number with me?

Looks like they gave me the ones for the GMC Sierra, not the ones for the Silverado.. so to be clear in case someone else wonders why they don't fit.. The local dealer is trying to get me the correct ones now.

84496084 = Sierra
84729676 = Silverado

I didn’t have the part number.  The dealer threw them in on the deal, and for some reason they came in a random box.  Didn’t see a part number on the liners, but didn’t look that closely.  Mine didn’t line up that well, but eventually did when I started tightening.

Thanks, found out that in fact my part was the wrong one, it was for the Sierra..  see post below, (and above I guess)> :)
