A few months ago I was running ras and bilstein 5100s and a vibration developed over 70mph. The vibration only occurs on certain sections of roads, blacktop highways and concrete. Other roads are smooth. I removed the ras and bilstein and the suspension was still stiff. I loosened the leaf spring bolts and it no longer vibrates, it's more of a bouncy oscillation over the same sections of road.

The suspension is back to stock and I swapped wheels and tires which softened it but didn't resolve it. I'm aware of the chevy shake issues and don't think this drive train related but who knows.

Any ideas of what would cause the suspension to randomly firm up at 50k?

Anyone know the leaf spring shackle and eye torque specs?

Wild.. I have a 15 with an RAS and 5100s and noticed a similar vibration at 70 about 5k miles ago. I'm currently at 90k though. I thought it was a bad wheel balance, but rebalancing at the next oil change didn't fix it. Now you have me wondering. I also have a leveling kit installed.

Anyone know the torque for the leaf spring bolts? I've seen numbers from 37 to 80 to 120ft-lbs. There should be 3 torque numbers

Front eye -
Shackle to hanger -
Eye to shackle -

It appears I have resolved my suspension (Chevy shake) issue. The factory springs were too weak (even with an empty truck) and would ride the overload spring. This created the rough ride and also the vibration when going over bumps at higher speeds.

I replaced the leaf springs and it's gone. I opted for an upgraded aftermarket spring so it hopefully won't come back.

Which spring did you get and can you post the part# and brand? This is what's happening to me, it's driving my wife and I crazy on long highway trips. Thank you.

I got them from General Spring, www.generalspringkc.com

I went with model 22-1269 which are 2025lb rated. They told me the stock rating is 1900lbs which is the option below the 2025lb.

Check the spring pads on your existing springs, mine were rubbing all the time on the highway. You can see how flat mine were just sitting in the driveway.
