I bought a 2019 RST Rocky Ridge XP back in April.  I love my truck but new passengers enjoy it until the get out and completely miss the step bar and almost hit pavement.  It came with BlackHorse Cutlass step bars.  My truck is all black and so are the step bars.  I’m wanting to get some sort of running board lights to help people see their step.  I’ve been looking at the Rigid Ind. 6 light rock light package.  I was wondering if I could put 4 of them in fenderwells and use 2 of the lights for the step bars, but wire theminto the dome light circuit instead of a switch.  Input would be greatly appreciated.

Does your truck have puddle lights? if so you might want to consider connecting them to that circuit instead. attaching to the interior lights would work, there are some threads on adding additional interior lights that will tell you what wire to connect it to on the BCM, you may need a relay or some other device to power rock lights from it though. the one downside to that is there is a button to turn on the interior lights on the upper console. if you connect them there the outside lights will come on at the same time, and that interior lights feature can be used while driving. the puddle lights might actually be a better functionality to follow. I believe they also are smart enough not to turn on unless its dark out, which would add a bit of sophistication to your mod. the puddle lights are controlled by the BCM as well. If you don't have them, you could always probe the connector with a multimeter to see if the circuits are active, just not connected to anything.

I wish mine did come with the puddle light option but I do not have the mirrors with them.  It would be nice to get the full capability of light all the way around my truck when hitting the task lighting button though.  I’m sure I could upgrade the mirrors and a wiring harness to achieve this.  Weighing the cost is anothet factor.  The Rigid  lights cost around $400 and I’m sure the mirrors would be more.  I know the towing mirrors are around $700 for a pair and the harness adds more to that.
