GPS signal question 2014

So im having this issue where I upgraded my i04 system in my 2014 silverado, to the i06 system with 1.1 HMI. problem i have had since shortly after installing it is the GPS would never be right. it was always X out and location was way off. I have left it like that for over a year and just used my phone because one of my other main reasons for installing it was for the backup camera i added too. Well now i am back to trying to figure it out. i have replaced the shark fin with 2 different ones and the gps antenna off the HMI module with 2 different ones and i still cant get this thing to get right. Now through all this i have managed to catch signal for a couple minutes 2 times but it was so short i dont know what made it work. So any suggestions where to go next would be cool. 

 

Another note I am debating going to the newer 2016+ i05 system with android auto and just use google maps. i have been trying to read about this for the last week and am still kind of confused on what i actually need to make this work. so any insight to that would be great as well.
