Truck is a 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD with the Duramax/Allison combo

Over the past few days, I've noticed that on the instrument panel readout where it shows PRNDM, there is a 1 at the end of the readout.  I know that if the transmission in the in the manual mode (M), it will have a number showing what gear the truck is in, but that # is right next to the M (M1, M2, M3, etc).  If I shift to M, I can us the +/- button on the shift lever to scroll through the gears 1-6. What I'm seeing is a few spaces between the M and the 1 even if the transmission is in M...what I'm seeing looks like this---

PRNDM    1

Put shift lever in M and I'm seeing this---

PRNDM1   1 or PRNDM2   1, etc

It may have always been this way and I just never paid attention to it.

Anyone else see this same thing?  I'll post a pic tomorrow (I'm at work tonight and truck is in the parking lot) in case I'm not explaining what the readout is showing correctly.

Yep always like that on the HD trucks.

Gotcha...I guess I've never really paid it much attention until earlier this week.  When shifting from reverse to drive, I accidentally put it in Manual.  I bumped it back to drive and looked and that's when I noticed it.
