How do you tell it's summer??

Tonight on my way home I got the first lightning-bug-on-the-windshield-green-glow that lets me know summer has arrived again.  That and the last several thunderstorms we had pass through here, those were nice.  Sitting on the porch at home with the dawg, a drink, and maybe your woman, watchin' the rain pour down.  Priceless :withstupid:

How do I know its summer?  Let me count the ways.

Corn is growing quite fast in the heat of the day.

Cows and their calves are grazing on green grass.

Rinsing show cattle twice a day in preparation for the fair (which starts tomorrow  :withstupid:  )

Hay is being/has been made full bore

The trees are full of leaves.

When the outside temp is 98 degrees at 1130 at night   and 114 during the day in the shade  ???        This place sucks.

1) The cracks in the fairway become big enough to swallow golf balls.

2) You can't walk on any outdoor, solid surface in your bare feet.

3) Any vehicle left in the sun for 30 minutes or more is undrivable without starting it and running the AC for 15 more minutes so you can actually touch things like the seat, steering wheel, shifter, etc...

4) Road kill is medium rare by 10:00AM and well done by noon.

5) All the people that overseeded with rye are now seeing that it wasn't such a good idea.

6) People physically fight one another over shaded parking spaces.

7) DFW ranks second sweatiest city in the nation NBC Report .

8) Dark colored vehicles can not be dried fast enough to prevent water spots if outdoors

9) Watering restrictions start (regardless of available water).

10) House and building foundations begin to shift and crack.

11) You water you lawn by sweating on it while you mow (kinda combined 7 and 9 here) ;)  .

I could go on but I think I've conveyed the general "flavor" of a DFW Summer.   :withstupid:

You mean your AC actually actually goes off at some point in the Summer?

Mine kicks on in March (sometimes February) and kicks off in late October  :0

I thought DFW was like Houston, its ALWAYS summer.  Did we have a winter?  Couldn't tell, never got below 80, it seems

Really though, I am all bout the chicks with/in: bikinis, daisy dukes, and my favorite, NO tan-lines :D Oh yeah!

Gonna have to turn the bed of my rig into a pool during these hot summers, of course it will all evaporate by 2 or 3pm... :withstupid:
