dieselman Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 Ok here is my problem now that it is getting cold up here in canada my truck dosen't have a high idle. When I start it it goes to 1000 rpm for 5 seconds then back to 550 rpm and sounds like it might stall. I was thinking it was the air idle control. The truck is a 00 silverado 1500 4x4 with the 4.8 vortec it has recently been tuned with new plugs and wires[stock GM platinum]. If I try to drive away without letting it warm up for 2-3 min. it has a slight hesitaton once it is warm runs perfect and smooth. Any feed back would be great. Thanks
Shaners Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 It seems like your idle is dropping off way too soon... I'm not sure what the root cause would be though.
dieselman Posted December 12, 2003 Author Posted December 12, 2003 Just to let you know it was the air idle control now when I start it it will run at 1500-1800 rpm for a min. or so then slowly goes back down to about 8 till I drive for a bit then back to 550. The part up here was $129.50 it beats takeing it to the dealer
