ABS on '98 K1500

We got a fair amount of snow here yesterday and a couple friends of mine both have 98 ext cabs K1500's. They both said they are having a hard time getting their trucks stopped on bad roads. They say as soon as they apply the brakes ABS kicks in and the pedal goes to the floor. Kinda scary

 

I've never had that trouble with any other year of truck I've had. Must be a '98 thing. Any thoughts?

They all do it... When the roads are iced over there is not much traction.
