coolant temp sensor wiring orientation

The cts broke off into the head and I replaced it with a new sensor and pigtail, but cannot remember which color wires went to which pin. Does this even matter?

 

03 Sierra 4.3L

2 wire? Doesn't matter. 3 wire it does.
