Location.

Here is what I found: A regular king size mattress is usually 76-78 inches wide and 80 inches long, while the measurements of california king bed is 72 inches wide and 84 inches long

Little bit narrower, a little longer, and probably he!! to find sheets for. :(

Edit.....This is where I found that info.

Cool, thanks.

I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with the size of the mattress, but I was thinking the Cali Kings were beds that had those really thin mattresses.

Thanks for the info.

That was my main reason for going with a king as opposed to a cali king .

Not many choices in bed coverings for the calis around here

Usually Calif Kings are only sold in western states too. I've had both and personally like the regular kings better, especially when the dogs sneak up on the bed at night.

I've had both Kink and California King beds. They take up to much room. I have a queen size bed now and a wife who likes to cuddle all night. The queen sized bed is 78" long x 60" wide. space is a premium it is a better chioce.

I wish I could have a King Size bed, but there is NO way I could get it up my stairs... :fume:

I have a queen size now, and I had to special order the split box springs so they would make the turn on my landing going up the stairs.
