Obnoxious door chime clanger

Anyone know how to disable that seat belt chime clanger that goes on forever? I belt up on the road but not at camp or on dirt roads or trails. Is there a way to make it go away? Help? :fume: (04 Yukon)

on my '96 Z71 it was under the seat i believe, it's been so long since I disconnected it i can't remember.... Anyhow the theory is the same open your door and let the little bugger chime away then start looking for it, usually a black box looking thing. May be under the dash too around the driver side kick panel. Once you find it simply pull the plug and the noises and voices in your head go away :fume::thumbs:

The '03 and '04 models chime is feed to the radio speakers. I am still trying to find a way to disable it. No longer as easy as pulling a plug under the seat or dash.

I haven't looked lately, but the typical GM design is that there is a wire that goes up the latch side of the seat belt, when the buckle is inserted, it ties the wire to ground. Unbolt the latch side (center "hump" side) there is probably a wire running from a harness up the base of the latch.

The chime usually goes out after-a-while even with the seat belt unlatched, just the indicator on the dash stay's light.

Then again the new 03/04 are suppose to have a "weight"/track position sensor built into the seats for the SMART air bag deployment systems, so GM might have started using it instead.
