2015 Silverado sync retrofit kit or external screen？？？

I would like to upgrade my entertainment system. and wireless Carplay only works on 2016 + models.
I intended to pick up a Pioneer head unit. It's a little tricky for me with the installation, and I don't actually want to replace my factory head unit.

Just found out an external touch screen on Youtube, only costs US$220, is easy to set up, and supports both Wireless CarPlay, Wireless Android auto, and phone cast.

Does anyone have experience with portable screens or any head unit the retrofit kit?
The external one is cool! But I’m still considering whether the pick up the Pioneer radio or the external screen.
