I recently purchased a 2022 GMC 2500HD Denali. I a Towing a 40ft Montana with a 2300lb Tongue weight. Are airbags a must and if so anyone running. Them with some recommendations?

They may not be a must but I will say you won’t regret them!  They help level everything back out and greatly improves your steering and handling and helps with a smoother ride less chucking and bouncing.  I went with the air ride 5000plus with the compressor and wireless controller, I’ve loved them, and install isn’t bad at all. DAEFA80E-3FA0-46F9-B6E4-2B6508E1A2F0.thumb.jpeg.a41dcabf6eed49439c157c871570c8c8.jpeg979A1082-7896-4194-8295-64B88E3DE1D4.thumb.jpeg.607f7210625469584ea9795e45603eb8.jpeg

I would love to know where you installed the compressor.  I am looking to install as well.  Thanks

Did you notice any additional "bounce" at the rear of the truck with the airbags, when towing your 5th wheel?

Reason for asking is, I have air bags on my ram, and the rear bounces more when towing heavy.  There isn't a shock that will handle the additional bouncing for the Ram (tried a few).  I still wouldn't tow without the airbags, as I can get the truck leveled like when not towing, so headlights are at the correct height (except when hitting bumps that cause the "bounce"... lol).

Have a new 3500HD on order, so your input would be helpful.

Thanks!

The only time I notice extra bounce is if I haven’t let the air out of the bags and drive down the road without a load, you can definitely feel a difference then, a lot more bouncing around if you hit a bump.  It’s always felt a lot smoother with the fifth wheel after I installed the airbags, I usually run them at around 60 PSI I believe I’ve never pumped them all the way up to 100psi so I think it still allows it to cushion the load.  Hope it helps.

Great input.  Thank you.

Yeah, I have to dump the air bags and tire pressure substantially when not loaded.  Otherwise I'd need a kidney belt... lol

Happy Trails.
