Gt5 g80, will 2500 rear end bolt to 1500?

Hey there, having trouble finding this info. I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 z71 with factory gt5 g80 codes. I counted teeth myself, gearing is 4.10. My question is will the gt5 g80 from a 2500 of the same year bolt up?

It can but you will need to do a lot more to that axle to make it work with the rest of the half ton stuff.

 

Like converting it to 6 lug, getting 6 lug brakes and all that. Possibly making a few brake lines and hoses and getting a conversion u-joint because the 14 bolt uses a larger end on the pinion.

 

You're other option would be to find a rear axle from a SS/VHO truck and maybe even a vortec MAX truck with a 6.0, I believe those all came with a beefier axle that is already a 6 lug size.
