GM MDI Module and Software Clones

Who has experience with the GM MDI or MDI2 clones? They are for sale all over with cracked GDS2 software as well.  Ranging from like $100-300 for the module with software.  They can be found all over from Ebay to Amazon to sketchy Chinese websites.

 

There isn't a ton of info on them, but it does sound like plenty of people have gotten them working.

 

Sounds like some could even be used for reflashing (with a $40 2 year GM subscription).

I need a better scanner and these cloned modules seem like a great option. I'm decent enough with a computer and have no problem needing a laptop to use it. I don't "need" to do flashing just yet, but even for diagnostics it seems invaluable to be able to stay out of the dealer but still be able to have access to GDS2...

i bought one of the china vcx nano for gm, you will need some computer experience to get it working, but when you do they work fine

I have the Chinese VCX Nano as well and use it regularly. The only caution is the software they ship with and you download from their site Always has a Virus on it. Use the appropriate caution when installing and make sure your virus protection is up to date. There are plenty of users that will lead you through the install
