Transmission Leak on '92 GMC MG5

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just finished changing my clutch on my '92 GMC Sierra. When the transmission was down I had to change the front bearing cover due to wear from the throw out bearing. After I put the transmission back up and everything was back together I am getting tranmission fluid leaking out of the front of the transmission now. It is bad enough that I am getting major under spray. I have got the pull everything back down now and I was wondering if anyone has dealt with trying to seal a tranmission with sycromesh? What type of liquid seal can I use because it is obvious RTV does not work. Has anybody dealt with the newly converted single cover assembly on the MG5? I am not sure how it is supposed to seal or if my bearing went bad as well? I am off to pull it off. Let me know if anybody knows anything. If not I will post back and answer my own question just to inform everyone else that might run in to this problem..
