160 or 180 thermostat for 5.3L ?

about to pick up a lower thermostat, but was wondering if there is much of a difference between to 2 besides the 20 degrees. 160 sounds like its just to cool, any suggestions?

Depending on where you live, the 160 might not keep you warm.

Sometimes the 160 won't get warm enough to allow

the compuiter to get to closed loop. This means your

engine will run too rich and fuel mileage will go to crap.

i'll stick with the 180, thanks for the input!

A friend of mine had the 180 from hypertech and switched to the 160 from hypertech. Once warm, the engine ran at the same temperature which was usually around 185 degrees. I put the 160 in my '03 5.3 liter and I currently run around 185 when warm as well. Hope this helps.
