Radar Dectectors

I'm looking at buying the Beltronics 975R remote radar dectector. Does anyone have any experiences with this model (good or bad let me know). also if you have some pics of how you hard installed it into the cab would be great too

Regarding regular detectors (if you're interested): I think you’ll find that the general consensus around here, and other places, is that the Passport 8500 or the Valentine One is the detector of choice for exceptional performance. I have used both and the Passport may not be as “great” but it doesn’t false as much. I returned my V1 and have been very pleased with the 8500.

I drive with the V1, if you live in the city it may false alarm, but it's my opinion that it can't be beat on the open road.

V1 is the only way to go. I have had 3 of them. It has yet to let me down.

It really helps knowing direction and the range of the V1 just about cant be beat.

This is just a guess as to why he has had 3 but V1 can be reprogrammed for newer technology. So you can send your detector in and get new software put on it.

I bought a V1 last year and have not regreted it as it has paid for itself several times over. My question - does Valentine notify you when upgrades are available or are you responsible for checking in from time to time on their website?

No on their website they have a place to input your serial number and they'll tell you if there is a newer version.....you have to pay for the upgrade too....which kinda sucks, but o well I think it's well worth it....saved me this past weekend

I'm looking for something that doesn't need to be attached to the window. have a legality problem with detectors here

also, if anyone has pic's of 1 installed (hardwired and hidden somewhere in the cab) that would be great too

when I lived in Va I used mine all the time up in the window....I have a grey interior and mounted it just below the blue strip in the windshield, you couldn't tell it was there, then I had the remote mount in the power outlet in the dash so it wouldn't light up at night. If a cop was around me I just took it down and stuck it in my console.
