GM "Hot button" giveaway

Took my '01 in for service Friday, was killing some time in the showroom waiting for the courtesy transport. They had a red SSR I was looking and and talking to a salesman, when I asked about the hotbutton giveaway he saw my BellSouth jacket and said I wasn't elgible because I can get the GM supplier discount. That might make sense if BellSouth was a GM "supplier" but I think its really the other way around, most of our company trucks are GM. The GMS pricing is a little disappointing in itself and has so many restrictions on using it. Just wondering if anyone who gets the GMS discount has played the hotbutton giveaway?

They "only" had their SSR marked up $3500, I've heard some stealerships are trying to get $20000 over sticker! Maybe I sould buy it and sell it on Ebay? lol

That stinks!!!

I think there are a ton of people out there that are eligible for GMS that wouldn't be qualified then... (Myself included)

I'm also eleigible for Ford discounts as well, since GE must supply both manufacturers with something... (Probably plastics)

Yes, GE does supply some stuff for GM. My dad is a retired Chem-E from the GE plant near here and he was able to get the GMS discount when they bought a car for my mother. Dunno if he still qualifies. I know he was making the product they use to make oil pan gaskets for the I-6s in Jeeps, don't recall the material he was making for GM. Used to be GE Silicones, they re-named it GE Plastics, might've merged 2 divisions don't recall why it changed...

Don't know about Ford, I thought I haerd him saying something about that, don't know what though, and now he's no longer an "insider"....

I read the on-line rules and this doesn't seem correct to me. You'd have to work for an affiliated company not just a supplier to be ineligible unless you work for a company that does promotion/advertizing for GM or is involved directly with the "game". Ask the guy to show you the exact rule that makes you ineligible in writing on an official "rules" statement or tell him that GM will have a big legal problem.
