Can I add temp to my rearview mirror?

My 99 sierra has the compass set up & want to add the temp. Is it as easy as putting a mirror in that has that feature? Should it have the tmep sensor in it already? Does it matter what year mirror I upgrade to?

I would think you would need the temp sensor and the new mirror.

You would need a temp sensor and the new mirror. The stock location for the temp sensor is in front of the radiator, and you will need to run 2 wires up to your mirror harness to get that reading into the new mirror.

Like the others said. Your mirror in the '99 did not have the electronics for the temp. You will have to get a mirror and sensor from a newer model or buy one of the Gentex mirrors with compass and temp kits for the OEM look.
