s10 horn not working

Recommended Posts

Hi all, my '96 s10 horn is not operating. No voltage to the horn itself. Could it be the contacts in the steering wheel? Other ideas? Anyone know the procedure to remove the wheel? TIA.

To get the steering wheel off, you need to hook a chain to itand your buddys truck and have your buddy floor his truck to jerk it off. :loser:

you need a steering wheel puller to do that.

also, check for a fuse.

When you lay push on your horn, does your interior light come on? Oh... mine does, no horn sound, just light. I find it amusing until I really need to blast the horn at some idiot.

If the interior light is coming on when ya push the horn, replace the fuse for it and check the accessories fuse as well. I know it sounds wierd for the accessories, but trust me on this, happened in my 91 lol.

Should have mentioned that the fuse was good. Interior lights work just fine. Don't think I'll use my buddy's truck to pull the wheel, while it might work it surely would bend the rim  . I know there is a horn relay someplace but can't find it, I believe its on the firewall but they all seem to work. Therefore I believe that the horn contacts in the wheel are not working. If I knew what color the wires are in the harness I could short them and test the contacts. Don't want to pull the wheel if I can keep from it, worried about the air bag going off while in the process of taking the wheel off. Anyway thanks for the tips.
