What would cause the post that the ground connects to the Power Distribution Block to get hot enough to melt a hole in the top of the battery? The ground wire is not damaged or burned that I can see. No fuses were popped. I never saw or had any indication of any problems until my truck wouldn't start after sitting all night.

The cable you have circles is a POSITIVE cable, not negative. But I still don't know why it burnt a hole in your battery. The only negative one is to the left with the green  "X" on it.

Everything connected to that center metal plate is "HOT".

Maybe a loose connection creating more resistance?

Okay. That makes more sense. I saw a black cable and my mind thinks NEG. It was loose after a battery was replace months ago. I guess it could have done the damage at that time. Truck ran fine after the cable was secured. It just recently started dropping overnight. No other issues. Thanks!

I had the exact same issue happen on my work truck. The terminal circled got hot and burnt a hole in the top of the battery. No fuses just a melted spot. The truck barely started this morning then left me stranded at work. I'm wondering if this is a common issue? Only time will tell if it happens again. I do see a little gee corrosion on the edge of the cable at the crimped and shrink wrapped end on mine.
