Multipro Tailgate won’t shut flush

Hey folks, 

 

Just purchased a 24 1500 AT4 and I love it, with the exception of the rear tailgate that will not shut flush. I had it at the dealer for two hours yesterday and they maxed out the adjustments, but the tailgate on one side sticks out a little more than 1/4” on the side. The tech thinks the tailgate is warped so they are sending me to the body shop next week to determine if I need a new tailgate. 
 

Has anyone had their tailgate replaced? I’m a little nervous that a) the color isn’t going to perfectly match and b) the install won’t go well with all of the wiring. If I bought this used I think I could live with it, but not for $74k.  Dealer has been great to work with but they’ve never seen it.  Any ideas what the cause is? What would you do?

If the tech says it's warped then it seems like it'd be reasonable to have it replaced under warranty. If the body shop doesn't agree, go take a look at other tailgates on the lot and point out that yours is the only one sticking out 1/4" and cause trouble until they get it replaced.

Yeah I’m pushing for a replacement for sure if the paint can be matched up.   Dealership has been cool to work with and want to make it right.  It’s definitely not within an acceptable tolerance so we’ll see what they say.  Wouldn’t have left the lot or signed the papers had I seen it initially.
