So bear with me. I can make phone calls when connected via Bluetooth but I have to do it from my phone if I try to make a phone call using the touchscreen on my 2016 Silverado 2500. When I click on the name or type in a phone number it does not do anything. Any help would be appreciated. I have reset, everything from the phone to the radio I’m at a loss I don’t know what to do next

Does your truck have CarPlay / Android Auto? Are you USB-connected to the truck when you do this? If so... try the following:

- From the truck, forget the phone. Turn the truck off, open the driver's door, and get out.

- On the phone, forget the truck. Reboot the phone.

- Get back in the truck and pair the phone with the truck again, but DO NOT use any cable connections...

See what happens as this should completely prevent any AA/CarPlay communications. If it works correctly, there is a decent chance your USB cable is not up to par.

Ok.. You have an Apple phone and it appears you have (and are using) wired Apple CarPlay. My 2015 did not have CarPlay/Android Auto and I never had any issue doing what you're describing. My phone was only ever able to connect via Bluetooth.

Follow the steps I provided previously and let us know what happens. You need to completely sever the USB connection details so that CarPlay never factors into the situation and test. You should have no problems originating the call on your head unit.
