ABS while not braking?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I noticed something odd last night while romping through snow drifts. Every time I would hit a 6-10" drift across the road at 45-55 mph I would hear what sounded like the abs kicking in (that odd buzzing sound). It was quieter than normal but the same sound. I was maintaining a steady speed, foot on the gas not braking.

This also happened if I downshifted agressiveley on a slick spot, again while not braking.

Is this normal? Is the abs being activated even though my foot is not on the brake pedal?

PS- Yes, I drive a 2wd unloaded pickup in the white stuff... all this 4x4 business is the product of some now very rich marketing people.
