Fixing a leaky hatch

I noticed that the rear carpet was wet so I yanked it out and watched the bed closely during the last few rain falls.

I have the widow/tailgate setup and it appears that water is dripping in from the top of the rear window. The seal looks fine and the glass seems tight when closed.

Anyone else have experience fixing this problem on my vintage suburban (96-99)?

Mine does it every now and then on a 1995 Yukon. Should be the same rear end. But i don't know why it leaks. Seems to be more on the sides, than in the center. I think it pools somewhere and makes its way around the weatherstrip.

Now that you mention it, it does seem to surge rather than drip in slowly. I watched it a while as it rained but did not see the water come in but when I checked later, the inside top of the hatch was wet and there were puddles on the bed of the truck.

I got a pet peeve with squeeks and leaks! :D

My 99 has the rear hatch/tailgate and I haven't had a problem with it leaking yet. do you actually see the water come through the hatch ? could it be coming in through the thrid brake light? you might check the seal on it and the weatherstripiing around the hatch opening. Make sure the metal lip it is on is not bent anywhere. Until you find the leak you might park your rig with the nose down hill when it is raining so not as much water tuns towrad the hatch.

Mine only seems to leak when moving. Doesn't do it standing still. But it hasn't rained in Colorado in years, so I don't know if it still leaks...
