I just got this truck and talked to a buddy about getting a chip to prolong the life of the transmission. The truck has 50,000 miles right now and I know that transmission problems are "popular" with these trucks.
I guess I'm just looking for some guidance on this matter. My last truck was an 88' Blazer, so I'm unfamiliar with modern day after market parts/ accessories.
Any recommendations/ insight would help me a lot, what experience have you guys had with TCM tuners before?
Keep in mind that anytime the dealer gets access to your truck they likely install any updates for software throughout the truck. It probably has nothing to do with this, but it’s another variable that should be considered in troubleshooting.
Kyle, I have the same issue with mine.
2021 with the 5.3 and 6 speed. It started out as hard shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 delayed shifts from the same gears. It didn’t do it a lot or all the time, maybe once every couple of months .so I didn’t pay too much attention to it. When it did happen its was normally between a down or up shift and I was either giving or releasing the gas, so I wrote it off. Last Wednesday it started to shutter at low speeds. Again I didn’t pay too much attention to, I thought maybe it was my front tires wearing (35” tires can make some noise and give a slight shudder at low speeds) Thursday it just died, gears will not engage at all. The 6speed has the same issues as the 8 and 10 but they won’t recall the 6 because the say “it’s not a safety issue”
I had the same Issue with my 2015 Silverado, I won’t buy GM again. You pay 60k for a vehicle you expect to last more then 5 years.
