2003 6.0 L Westers question.

Before I add my name to the GP, I would like to hear stories anyone may have about using a Westers PCM in their 2003 6.0L engines.

Thanks,

Paul.

I can tell you first hand what it's done for my 8.1 HD. The truck has most of the bolt-on mods and an upgraded cam (a cam is a bolt-on right? :shakehead: ). I was using a custom program that was done by a different tuning and everything ran fine. Alot of people were posting good results from their Wester's programming so I decided to give it a shot. I was surprized to find that there was an increase in power over the other programming plus I picked up about 1 MPG. I use my truck for towing so I went for a performance 93 octane tune but it's not as aggressive as a full out hot tune.

Hope this helps,

Tom

I have it for my 8.1 also....I told him to screw mpg, i wanted everything I could get out of the engine....I have about 700 miles with the PCM now, and I swear it's still getting better. I had a superchips programmer before, and there is no comparison between the two. IMO it's definatly worth the money.

Thanks for the replies, but I was hoping to hear more about the 2003 and up 6.0L engines with Westers.

I seem top recall reading here that the gains people had achieved with pre 2003 engines and with all 8.1L engines were great, but that they felt less than pleased with the 03 6.0L upgraded witht the PCM.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I have had the Westers "93 HOT tune" for almost a week now. I had ran a couple tanks of 93oct gas through the tank before I installed since I knew it was coming. After installing it, me and my wife went out to run an errand and I could instantly feel it had more power at all speeds. I told Lyndon to take away as much torque managent as he could, that I wanted all out power vs. MPG, and that I don't do any heavy towing. My truck is MUCH faster now - even my wife could tell. I've probably driven a couple hundred miles since I installed it so I'm not sure if it's done "learning" or not. I can really notice a difference when I accelerate to pass on the highway. I asked Lyndon to reprogram for my 285 tires but I have yet to check it with GPS. I'm not sure if I'll get better fuel mileage or not, before the tune my trip computer told me I was averaging about 10 MPG, which I guess was really around 10.7 MPG. So far on this tank (used about half, with no heavy accelerating), my trip computer is saying 10.2. Tommorrow I'm going to order a Wester's tune for my dads duramax, Lyndon says no one in the U.S. has one.
